History: Samuel Ross was born in Tennessee. He is probably buried in this cemetery, but no record exists today. His wife, Margaret Gray Ross was born about 1796 in Tennessee. They lived in Kentucky and spent a short time in Illinois. They had at least eleven children. In 1844 Samuel & Margaret came to Henry County Missouri with several of their children. The following are known to have lived in Big Creek Township: James C. and wife Tabitha; Alvin and wife Elizabeth Ann "Betsey"; Catharine E. and husband John L. Gray; William H. and wife Elizabeth Jane Norris. After the death of her husband, Margaret Gray Ross lived with her son William H. and family. Many descendants of these families still live in the same area.
